Let's clarify that the beaches on the Atlantic coast is the most beautiful but oh so cold. It can vary 10 degrees C (50F) between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. The normal water temperature on the Atlantic coast all year round is 14-18 degrees C, in the Indian Ocean about 10 degrees C (50F) warmer. The reason is that flows from the Antarctic are driving up north along the Atlantic coast, while the warm currents from the Equator runs south along the Indian Ocean.
This also gives an amazing contrasts in plant and animal life in the ocean, the nutrient-rich Atlantic offers a lot of fish, seals, sea lions and penguins while the Indian Ocean offers dolphins, sharks and whales. And this scenario can be experienced only by driving approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) between the oceans!
